onlafayette asked: Hi Eva! First of all, I have to praise. Must say I adore your style and the personality that shines through your posts! I am currently a junior studying marketing. However, I have no passion for marketing like I have for fashion. I have had numerous internships and have volunteered for FW to just stay involved. I'm thinking about transferring. Is it more valuable to have a degree in business or fashion? What are your interns/employees more likely to be studying? Thank you so much!

my interns and employees have majored in everything. everything, that is, except for fashion! I never look for a strict fashion degree—I look for qualities and coursework that show the following: *interest in writing/communication (if I get a resume with a typo or that’s oddly formatted, bye bye) *curiosity about the world beyond fashion (I think it’s great if you read Vogue religiously each month. but what do you know about current events? you can’t live in a fashion bubble—and fashion is so influenced by the world at large) *enthusiasm (no jaded/holier than thou attitudes, please. I want someone who’s hungry and eager to be there). that, my dear, is my spiel on majors. and as for your dilemma—have you ever thought about fashion marketing? it could be a great way to fuse your interests…
