How many shoes do you estimate you own? It seems like you never wear the same pair twice!
hmmm, my closet has a rack that can store about 28 pairs of shoes. on the floor of my closet there are about 15 more pairs. and then I have four huge plastic containers filled with shoes (each one has about 25 pairs?). so, uh, yes, that’s a lot!
Hey Eva - I'm seeking out your beauty expertise on a matter decidedly un-beautiful: my cuticles. They tend to get raggedy and messy in between (infrequent) manicures, and I end up with hangnails and cracked skin. Do you have any solutions? I've heard of a polish-like liquid that's supposed to protect cuticles, but haven't had much luck ... Thanks!
ai dios mio! just reading your question made my cuticles curdle in fear. do you moisturize your hands enough? I keep a hand cream in every bag (I’m partial to Burt’s Bees and Jurlique) so that I never forget to moisturize. when I’m on the phone or watching telly, I make it a habit to apply cuticle oil as well! Essie and Sally Hansen have good ones in a pen form, so they’re easy and portable
Do you have any affordable (less than $30) mascara recommendations? The products I'm currently using within that budget clump very easily and seem to dry out fast.
my favorite mascaras at the moment are CoverGirl Lash Blast Length (for long, long, long and ultra-defined lashes) & Eyeko Magic Mascara (for thicker but still separated lashes). in general, I recommend not going overboard and spending too much on mascaras because they dry out quickly and need to be replaced (for hygienic purposes, bleh) every few months!
a few of my defining characteristics: *I like to drink hot water instead of cold *kale is my favorite vegetable *I always have hand sanitizer in my pocket *I shop an inordinate amount *I love lip stains *I give my grandma manicures whenever I see her.
This may be a little odd to ask, but I'm in the midst of choosing a college (either Emerson College in Boston or New York University) and my overall goal is to work for Teen Vogue, or a similar magazine. Do you have any advice on what I should do concerning college in order to reach that goal?
you’re choosing from two great colleges! congratulations! okay, my two cents about college: it certainly helps to go to school in a city where you can have internships during the school year (as opposed to just summer). but you should choose the school where you feel comfortable and at home. at the end of the day the education you get at either school will be world class—and college is as much about making friends, developing leadership skills, learning to delegate time, etc etc—so you should follow your heart
firstly, i love your blog & your personal style!
second, how do you pack? tons of different mix and match items? by day? by outfit?
-A big fan in Texas
thank you! and I am just a tad OCD about packing. I love packing (unpacking is a whole other story). I typically make a list of the number of events I’ll be attending and then tally up the number of outfits I need. I pack for that and no more or no less! which sometimes is a problem because if the weather is unexpectedly cold or hot, I’m in trouble! but hey, that gives me an excuse to shop, non? ;)
Hi eva! i try to find internship in almost every magazine in the city but i don't really know what to put in my cover letter. What should i wrote if its for assist in the beauty department?? thank
ps: love all your pick. And i'm actually dying for every of your clothes + shoes :)
your cover letter should describe who you are (where you go to college, etc), why you love the field you’re applying to, and—importantly—why you love the publication you’re applying to. a lot of people forget that last step! cite specifics, like the photographers you love, the last story that made an impact on you, etc. your cover letter is a chance to come alive on paper. don’t waste the opportunity!
What are in your opinion the beauty must haves for this summer?
Like which nail colour is a must, which shade of blush, lipgloss, etc.?
And thank you so much on the tip for the dark circles under the eyes, I'm def going to try the benefit product!
oof! too many to name! I love Benefit’s new coral Cha Cha Tint (a pretty corally-mango), Revlon lipstick in Siren, all of OPI’s Pirates of the Caribbean collection (they’re all dusty sun-washed colors), Dior polish in Aloha… basically anything bright, orangey, and corally—or the polar opposite: faded dusty hues
Hi Eva! I know that so many beauty experts (including you!) swear by skin serums. I'm 22, and while I'm past the point of needing heavy acne meds in my skin care, I also don't want to get into crazy wrinkle-fighting moisturizers, yet, either. What brands do you recommend most in order to brighten and even out your skin tone?
you have “in-between” skin and it’s great that you’re taking care of it proactively instead of waiting ‘til you see wrinkles to panic and smear everything on your face! Clarins has a line called Bright Plus that I like. it’s a great overall brightening line. Clinique works for many different age groups as well! if you like natural products, Jurlique has a great collection of brightening products that just came out. and at a drugstore level, Neutrogena and La Roche Posay. good luck!
What are your favourite pieces of British style? And what are your favourite stores in England? X
I am absolutely obsessed with Christoper Bailey & Burberry… to the point that it’s a bit creepy, haha. Topshop has been a favorite store of mine for years (ever since I studied abroad in England almost ten years ago). and I love Smythson, Stella McCartney, and Liberty of London. Oh, and Mulberry! okay, okay, confession time: I’m a total Anglophile!
