I follow you on twitter! Not sure how I came about following you, but I love your tweets. So excited to realize you have a tumblr. You have great style!
thank you! my style is a work in progress and luckily I have great inspirations at hand at Teen Vogue! generally, though, I have 3 fashion rules: a) make sure you have a closet of staples: that perfect black heel, super-flattering jeans, etc b) once you have that mastered, build your wardrobe with flourishes—fun pieces that are seasonal & chic and c) there’s no such thing as “in” or “out” as long as you love something!
“Talent is like a muscle. It has to be worked on and be adaptable and flexible. Personal charisma comes a little later, and it helps too—but it must be handled carefully. Don’t play the star before you are one. That is a great danger for young designers. Let other people tell you that you are a star. It’s not for you to tell them. They would have already noticed.”—Karl Lagerfeld (in the Teen Vogue Handbook)
hi eva! i love what you've posted on your tumblr so far and can't wait to see more. my question is a bit more superficial, however - what font did you use in the "whatever eva wants" text in your header? i'm crossing my fingers that it's not calligraphy because i'm dying to use it in my wedding invitations! thanks so much!
hi! thank you for following! Sigh. I wish it was a font as well. I did indeed use a calligrapher for my Tumblr header though (and incidentally, I’m teaching myself calligraphy bc I’m a big dork and obsessed with it). anyway! her name is Holland Wilson and her blog is http://hollandwilson.blogspot.com! I also heart Love Jenna calligraphy but she’s majorly mucho $$$.
Hi! In the photo of you at Coco Chanels apartment you're wearing the cutest shirt! Where did you purchase it?
hi! thank you! the sweater is from AKA New York, which my friends Abigail Levinson, Karen Reinitz, and Ana Maria Pimentel started. They’re sold at shopbop.com… and here’s a link to their site: http://akanewyork.com :)
tough one! too many to name—I love OPI’s Guy Meets Galveston… all the shades from the Texas collection are so cheery! also liking I Juggle Men (hahahaha) as a shimmery subtle top coat. and, believe it or not, Justin Bieber’s collection (for charity) is awesome.
yay! you joined tumblr! i look forward to your outfit pictures and recommendations on twitter, so i can't wait to see what you blog about!
thank you! my twitter (@evachen212) will continue to be about my day-to-day life as a Teen Vogue editor (and my general ramblings!) and my Tumblr will pretty much be wholly focused on fashion/style/beauty inspirations and photos I love. thanks for following! xx
“Create your own individual style. I’m not interested in the girl who walks into my office in a head-to-toe label look that’s straight off the runway. I’m interested in a girl who puts herself together in an original, independent way”—Anna Wintour (in The Teen Vogue Handbook)
I’m tiptoeing into a few things in 2011—Tumblr (obviously)… and bright lips! love the amazing lips Peter Philips created at Fendi. I’m starting with baby steps though—lip stains (like from NYC Color—I love the pointy tip of the marker—with Tarte Cosmetics layered over it for a slight sheen)… I’ll document my progress of lack thereof, stay posted!
